Robert Julius Vaassen

VAASSEN, Robert Julius (aka Rob or Roby). Born July 05, 1935. Passed away on July 14, 2023.

Rob passed away peacefully at 7pm on Friday evening at Mercy Hospice in Auckland. This day is also Matariki Day/Bastile Day.

Rob was a dutch immigrant to New Zealand in 1956. He was an Industrial Chemist,a an Inventor, Problem Solver, Maker, Designer, a Manufacturer, a Watchmaker.

Son to Jan and Maria Vaassen (and brother to Hannie and Carla) of Hilversum in The Netherlands - where Rob grew up.

Wife and partner to Suzanne, Father to 3 boys; David, John and Roger and daughter Natasha, and their partners Janet Vaassen (Preston), Petra Vaassen (Noordhoven), Tracey Muir and John Newton.

Opa to Katie, Olivia, Madeleine, Natalie, Emily, Kimberley, Renae, Allie, Madison and Callaghan, Cosima, Georgia and Grand Opa to Audrey.

We love you Dad/Opa, and will miss you dearly.

Rob was cremated in a private family ceremony on 19th July 2023.

A memorial service will be held 20th July 2023 at 2:30pm at Cornwall Park. RSVP to davidv@hey.com.
